Meng’s Martial Arts was established in 1987 in Huber Heights, Ohio. We have a growing list of schools throughout the United States, Brazil and Europe. In the martial arts community we were recognized as one of the top 200 schools in North America.
We also are authors and have a best selling book since 2001 at Barnes and Noble and sold thousands of martial art instructional videos throughout the past 10 years worldwide. We have been featured in and written over 30 articles in the world’s largest martial art magazines.
In 2004 Meng’s Martial Arts of Houston was started. Our Katy Facility was opened in August 2008. We have now starting to go by Meng’s Martial Arts of Katy. Already Meng’s is making quite a repetition locally in Katy and West Houston. We are known for our superior educational approach to the martial arts. We go beyond just knowing the techniques. Understanding that martial arts are a proven method for helping us understand our self and the world we live in.
Our curriculum and teaching methods are second to none. We are always updating curriculum, teaching methods, and implementing technological advances to help our schools. Meng’s students have free access to a virtual curriculum, so students are able to practice their material at home with parents. So effective we’ve been able to teach in local charter schools as well as being on the preferred vendors list in Katy ISD schools. We are the only school in Katy and all of Houston that is a national certified in the Anti-Abduction Kid Escape program. Every 60 days to keep our kids in the community we offer the Kid Escape workshop as well as a Bully Prevention workshop.
Meng’s Martial Arts of Katy are always having special events and parties for our kids. Some action-packed fun events include; Academic Achievement Awards Pizza party, bring a buddy goal setting board breaking night, parents night out, Kid Escape Anti-Abduction seminars and Anti-Bully seminars.
We also sit on the board of directors for the non profit company Fists for life. A non-profit company that currently helps feed more than 300 sack lunches per week for local under privileged children. The program also gives martial arts scholarships for those kids that really stand out and need extra help for competitions that plan on going to state and national tournaments.
Our martial arts program is based on the most cutting edge researched from the only martial arts and research institute in the United states. We believe in developing Black Belts as a whole person. Our Black Belts have real self defense skill as well as knowledge into martial art concepts, history, teaching methods, philosophy and leadership development. In our kids programs we have produced state and national champions every year since opening. Our kids really develop into great young men and women by being by learning and reinforcing the qualities of modesty, integrity, self discipline perseverance and knowing their self identity and growing their confidence. In our adult programs we hear all the time how we have given them a new outlook on life through the traditional wisdoms. In our adult program as well we have also produced Pan Nam Champions, Kung Fu Grand Champions, Amateur Cage Fighters, international Kickboxing titles (San Shou) and coaches of the year. Sifu Brad Ryan, owner of Meng’s is a Katy resident and is looking forward on serving the Katy and West Houston area for many years to come.
One of the most important things when picking a martial arts school is the staff. All our staff is professional adults. They consist of business owners, non-profit founders, managers, school teachers, ex-swim coaches and full contact cage fighting champions and Kung fu Grand Championship winners. All our instructors go thru extensive training in not only in the curriculum but in communication, teaching methods, leadership development, and business development.
